This tends to be one of the most popular marketing mediums for dentists...especially a new start-up. The potential for new patients seems almost endless when you're sending some kind of postcard, flyer or value-pack advertisement to nearly every mailbox in your community.
Some companies do individual postcards, others offer full size flyer inserts to go in grocery store catalogs, and other offer a thin sheet a paper to be featured in a Value-pack coupon offering. Deciding which direct mail piece to purchase can be tough - but it's always best not to break the bank on these. Design work, printing and the mailing lists can get pricey. Add postage on top of that, and you're looking at a big portion of your marketing budget. However, this medium has a proven track record of success for many dentists.
As is the key with most other marketing mediums, the synergy between several mediums is key. As mentioned before, having a website for your potential patient to go to and learn more about you anonymously is the key to a successful direct mail campaign. You've already succeeded in getting your practice name in front of them. Now get them to take the extra step to learn about you by putting your site URL all over your direct mail piece.
